Why Traditional Diets Fail Every Time

How many different diets have you tried in the past that simply haven’t worked? What makes diets fail so miserably? A lot of people still believe the myth that eating tiny amounts of food will be a healthy way to weight loss. In the real world when we eat a lot less than we need we could actually gain weight instead of losing it. Our bodies are designed to view restricted food consumption with starvation. When we intentionally deprive our bodies of food we trigger our body’s starvation preservation mode.

Research tells us that people who are able to maintain a healthy weight normally eat have diets that are made up from more complex carbohydrates (like veggies, wholegrains etc) and individuals who are overweight usually have diets that contain more fat and starchy carbs. Being able to interpret what these studies tell us about which factors contribute to weight loss is crucial when creating a weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight is to start a low GI diet where you restrict the total amount of carbs you consume in a day, but are less restrictive about the other foods. You still need to make sure you don’t overeat, by keeping your portion sizes down, and ensuring you get the right combination of healthy and nutritious foods which are also low in saturated fats.

The weight gain is largely a factor of lifestyle and eating habits and our weight increase didn’t happen over night but rather over a period of months or even years. Because it took a long time to gain the weight, getting back to your normal weight won’t happen in an instant. Individuals who do not understand the balance between a healthy diet, taking in enough water, exercising and making sure they get enough sleep are easy pickings to the marketing companies pushing the current fad diet, weight loss pill or quick weight loss plan . You can find these fad diets, pills and programs in every media including TV, radio, magazines, books, and the Internet. Because most individuals today have been programmed to want everything now, it’s much easier to think (or even believe) that a magic does exist that can burn off fat virtually overnight, than to believe that we have power to improve our lives and live a healthier and longer life where obesity is behind us in the past.

Diets are doomed to failure because they do not teach a balance within your body. Most diets simply don’t work because some are structured towards making the promoter or some company money instead of structuring a product or system that will sincerely aid a person to lose weight.

We hear everywhere that those who are carrying excess weight are at increased risk of diseases and other life threatening health issues because of obesity. Too much fat in your diet is one of the main contributors to unneeded body fat .

People have been led to believe for too many years that they need to eat a lot less or count every calorie they consume in the hope that they will shed those excess pounds. The truth is that our bodies are very proficient when it has to manage weight assuming that we give them what they need to stay healthy – like getting enough sleep, drink plenty of water, eat healthy and nutritious foods, and daily physical activity.

Getting rid of those extra pounds is not just about counting calories, you should also not overeat. Proper portions of nutritious foods are vital to losing weight. It’s also important that you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies were made to move!
